Here are just a few things that I've learned along the way. First, know your target audience. In other words don't use seven point type when your audience is over forty. Second, more times than not, less is more. Removing something from a page may be as effective as adding another unnecessary element. Third, the more information you have in your head about subjects other than design, the more effective you will be as a designer. And most importantly, remember that with design comes responsibility!
Throughout my 15 years of design experience, I have worked on both traditional and new media projects including business-to-business collateral, identity, editorial and web. I have managed projects from concept through completion, directed photo shoots and press checks, conducted client presentations, and worked within team environments as well as independently. I have also had the pleasure of teaching computer graphics and technology as adjunct faculty at the Memphis College of Art. |
