Why hasn't rosefries.com been updated since Spring 2004? Twins Dylan Paul + Dakota Logan Forsythe were born 10:24 + :25 PM 26 October 2004. Take a peak at our mac.com photo albums. Hopefully the music (and updates) will start anew once the sprouts begin sleeping through the night. Thanx to everyone for you kind expressions, gifts, and support. Please stay in touch.

I haven't written in a while, but it's never too late to thank the great people who showed up for the Crush performance and to thank Bob for sitting in on bass. It was a somewhat challenging experience so it's been really nice to hear all the positive feedback.

Uncommon Ground show coming up: Windy City Songwriter's Showcase. It's been a while since I've seen and played with some of these folks, so it's going to be as fun for me to watch and listen as it is for you.

Babies -- yes, two -- are on the way, so finally there may be more time for some studio sessions while I avoid the bar scene. Right! Hope to see you Tuesday!

The Crush show is tonight! We're very excited about playing with Bob, in a good room with good sound. I apologize for all the different times listed -- we'll actually be hitting the stage at 8:15 so that we can get in a full hour of music before we cut if off at 9:15 for the beginning of open mic at 9:30. So if you come at 8, you'll definitely be on time. Get there at 8:30, miss a few of our songs but get most of the set. Whenever you get there, get there. See you soon.

After this show, we'll be taking some time off from performing, but we'll be back for the Windy City Songwriter's Showcase at Uncommon Ground on June 15.

The Crush performance is coming up. We're very excited about Bob playing with us -- we've fallen in love with our music again hearing it with the upright bass.

A new song has been added to Audio -- a live recording from April's show at UC. The entire show was recorded and we plan to make most of those songs available soon.

Finally, May has quieted down as one show has been moved to June and one to July. So it's Crush this month, UC in June, and Gallery Cabaret in July. The June show at UC is now on the Live calendar.

Three shows, two weeks
The first two weeks of May will be busy for us, fun for you. Along with the previously scheduled show at Crush, we're now set to perform in the Windy City Songwriters showcase at Uncommon Ground and at yet another songwriter's showcase, hosted by Michael Plishka, at Gallery Cabaret. We'll be posting official details of these shows soon in the Live section.

Wow, great crowd at Uncommon Ground Saturday night. Big thanx to Abe for setting up such a great gig and letting us share the stage. You must check out Abe Quigley the next time he's anywhere remotely close to you. See abequigley.com for more info. Abe, it was a pleasure and an honor.

And thank you everyone who bought a CD. We hope to have many more songs recorded and available soon. We also ended up with a nice recording of Saturday's performance, so check the Audio section often as we will shortly be uploading select songs from the live recording.

After a long hard two set night we resigned to yard work and grocery shopping today. Back to business Monday and practicing for the next show at Crush. See you there.

April 10, this Saturday night, is the long promised show at Uncommon Ground with Rose Fries and Sweet Rye alternating two 45 minute sets with Abe Quigly. Abe gets the night going at 8pm, followed by Rose at 8:45, then back to Abe with Rose finishing off the evening in a final set ending at 11pm. Abe will share his high energy acoustic pop of positive inspiration while Rose and Rye will be playing through their eclectic selection of moody alt-country and acoustic rock.

Not only will this be more music than Rose has played during a single public performance, but the second set will feature a wild mix of new and old material no one's likely to have heard before. Sweet Rye will consist of Michael abusing resonator and electric guitars and vocals (a first), and Alexander on assorted percussion.

Uncommon Ground Coffeehouse and Cafe, located just north of Wrigley Field on Grace at Clark, is a quiet, smoke free, and family friendly environment with gourmet coffee, dinner and dessert fare, and full bar.

Please come pack the house to support local talent and the independent venues that give us the opportunies to perform.

See you Saturday.

Two new shows added. Check the dates and venues. This week's schedule is a full one, with Uncommon Ground open mic hosted by Acoustic Boy this Monday, back to Griffin's on Tuesday, and of course Crush Wednesday. Thursday night is reserved for a political event featuring senatorial candidate Barack Obama and alderman Rey Colon. Friday will have to be reserved for grocery shopping, as Saturday night is a DON'T MISS SHOW with Chris Whitley, solo with his National Res-O-Phonic, at Martyr's.

Thank you for all the comments coming in about the songs. As far as production notes, we're constantly remixing and editing, working through the ProTools learning curve. But we're making progress and the muddy mix and high end distortion of today's demo will give way to a very listenable CD available at upcoming shows for a small $3 fee -- just enough to cover materials cost. The new mixes will be popping up online as well for you cheapskates.

Sorry Nancy and Ronno, the day jobs are getting the best of us. We've missed the Tuesday open mic at Griffins for the second week in a row. Next week we'll be there for sure! (Insert signature in blood here.) We will, however, be showing up this week at Crush, Wednesday night.
